In a recent post on X, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that Manchester City are eyeing a move for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo this summer. It has been revealed that Man City boss Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of the Brazilian talent.
The 24-year-old had a productive campaign at the Madrid club after he produced a series of impressive displays for them on the offensive end of the field. Rodrygo banged in 14 goals and earned 11 assists in 54 matches for Los Blancos last season across all fronts.
The Brazilian talent proved his worth in the final third by averaging 2.52 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. He kept 37% of his attempts on target. Rodrygo was even tidy when distributing possession in the opposition half after completing 85.9% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Madrid club will expire in the summer of 2028. Hence, it won’t be easy for Man City to snap him up in this transfer window.

Rodrygo can create some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and is a decent dribbler with the ball.
The Brazilian sensation can contribute by scoring and creating a lot of important goals for his side from the wide areas. He is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as a left-winger or as a centre-forward if needed.
We can expect Rodrygo to bring more firepower to Man City head coach Pep Guardiola’s frontline. He is more than capable of nailing down a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club.
At 24, Rodrygo has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a great choice for Man City to consider in this summer transfer window. He could even help the Premier League giants challenge for some major honours over the next few years. Thus, Guardiola should focus on trying everything in his power to lure Rodrygo to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
