Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was unimpressed with accusations they risk standing still if they end the transfer window having made only one signing.

United bought midfielder Donny van de Beek from Ajax in a deal worth up to £40million but the club have failed to even make a bid for priority target Jadon Sancho and the transfer window is only open until October 5.

But Solskjaer claimed it was 'disrespectful' of a journalist to say Van de Beek was the 'only player' to have arrived at United this summer even though Van de Beek is the only player to have arrived at United this summer.

"I think you show quite a bit of disrespect to Donny when you say he was the only one," Solskjaer said. "Because he is a top player and he strengthens our team and, of course, we have to concentrate on ourselves.

"Different clubs have to be allowed to do whatever they do and feel they can. We are working hard to have a competitive squad and team. If and when there are updates we will give you them."
