In an interview with Sky Sports News (h/t Sports Mole), Manchester United keeper David De Gea opens up about saving the last-minute penalty against West Ham.
The Hammers took the lead in the 30th minute of the game but Cristiano Ronaldo scored the equaliser for the Red Devils in the 35th minute. Jesse Lingard then came off the bench to score in the 89th minute against David Moyes’ men to put United on course for a win.

In a turn of events, West Ham were awarded a last-minute penalty and Mark Noble stepped up to take it. The shot was heroically stopped by the Spanish keeper to secure the victory for Manchester United.
The 30-year-old expressed his thoughts after his heroics as he spoke to Sky Sports News after the game (h/t Sports Mole):
“It was the last minute, I made the save. A massive three points for us. Going through my head was ‘save the ball’. It was a really tough game, both teams had good chances, again a great goal from Jesse.”
David de Gea has had a difficult time in the last couple of seasons at Manchester United. He also faced a lot of criticism for his inability to make a penalty save in the Europa League final.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was also greatly pleased with the veteran keeper’s performance as he spoke to Sky Sports News (h/t Manchester United Official)
“You know he’s a top keeper, everyone loves having him behind them”
The Spanish international has started this season on a really strong note as the Red Devils remain undefeated in the Premier League this season. He has been a commanding presence in the absence of Dean Henderson who is still coming back to full fitness after contracting Covid.
De Gea has also put in some excellent performances against Southampton and Wolves this season and become an integral part of this Manchester United setup.
