A headline member of the midfield ranks at Manchester City made use of the opportunity to aim a less-than-subtle dig at Real Madrid, on the back of the meeting between the sides on Wednesday night.

Real, of course, are fresh off booking their spot in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

After making the trip to The Etihad for a 2nd leg meeting with a City outfit who sent them packing from the competition just 12 months ago, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops held their nerve, to secure what was no doubt sweet revenge.

Los Blancos made use of an uncharacteristic approach on their way to as much, throwing the club’s usual all-action stylings out the window for a low-block, counter-attacking setup.

And, though at times far from pretty, it proved the deciding factor in keeping an always dangerous City outfit at arm’s length, en route to a penalty shootout triumph.

One individual who has since made clear that he was left far from impressed by the tactics employed by Real tonight, though, comes in the form of Rodri.

Speaking to the media post-match in Manchester, the hosts’ midfield conductor was drawn on his side’s heartbreaking defeat.

And Rodri, in his response, went on to claim that:

“To be honest, today I only saw one team.”
