Major Zak Lovelace development has Rangers fans worried | OneFootball

Rangers B played Stenhousemuir on Tuesday evening in what was one of the biggest matches for the reserves in some considerable time, with four major revelations and talking points for fans to take away.

Over the next few pieces, Ibrox Noise will take you through all four talking points and their implications to the club.

In this one, it’s all about Zak Lovelace, the promising young striker who caused some consternation when removed at half time – the former Millwall forward has sparingly featured for Rangers’ seniors, which is not hugely surprising give he is still only 18 and doesn’t turn 19 till January, and has been injured of late.

There are a lot of high hopes centred on this lad, with many believing he could be a future Rangers striker, a star in the making, but from what we gather Lovelace’s half time departure, for once, had nothing to do with injury and everything to do with minutes.

We also gather he played a good match, and is putting together a bit of momentum.

Lovelace has certainly had to wait his chance – he has a very decent 5 appearances in the Championship already, 4 in the Premiership, and even shone for the club in Europe in 2022 in the UEFA Youth League when Rangers were in the Champions League.

He’s one there’s a fair old chunk of promise around, but he’s still fairly raw and young at this point and still has a bit to learn.

Of course, at this age Nathan Patterson was already starting to eke his way into the first team, and by age 19 he was sold to Everton for £16M, so Lovelace will want to make some major progress in the next 6 months to start to make a real impression on Rangers’ first team. But he didn’t have the injury issues Lovelace has.

But for now it’s a good sign he got a solid appearance in last night.
