Lyon interested in RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, but… | OneFootball

As reported by Mohamed Toubache-Ter, Stade Rennais are interested in Red Bull Leipzig forward Timo Werner (29), however, Foot Mercato understands that they may now face competition from French rivals Olympique Lyonnais.

The German spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur from RB Leipzig. However, he struggled to make an impact, netting just once in 27 games in all competitions. He made just four starts in the Premier League under Ange Postecoglou before returning to his parent club. However, he does not look to have a future at RB Leipzig, who brought Werner back to the club following a mixed spell at Chelsea.

He may be set for a fresh challenge in France. Rennes are considering a move for the forward, as are Lyon, as per Foot Mercato. However, the latter are not expected to make their move imminently. They consider Werner as a potential market opportunity closer to the closure of the transfer window. Whilst OL are a fan of the player, his wage demands could also pose a problem.
