Kevin Sauvage has revealed that Luton Town have decided not to go ahead with the signing of Nathan Ngoy from Standard Liege. It had been expected that the Championship club would sign the talented young defender for around €5m, with the money then being used by Standard to keep the club afloat while they look for new owners. For now, Ngoy is back in Belgium and part of the Standard squad.

It appears that, following a meeting on Monday at Luton, the side decided not to go ahead with the transfer. Sacha Tavolieri reports that the sides manager Rob Edwards did not believe that they need another central defender as part of the squad. As a result, Standard have also decided not to pursue a handful of other central defensive targets they had to replace Ngoy. Ivan Leko, the head coach in Liege, will be happy after stating that he was sad to see the best defender at the club leave this summer.
