London City Lionesses have completed the signing of Spanish goalkeeper Elene Lete on a two-year deal.
The 23-year-old joins the newly promoted Women’s Super League (WSL) side on the back of a seven-year stint at Real Sociedad.
On the international scene, she has one cap for Spain, which she earned in 2023.
Head coach Jocelyn Prêcheur said “Elene has a lot of experience already. She is a great goalkeeper and will bring us her knowledge of the higher level. She is a very good example to follow for all of our young goalkeepers in the club and we are very lucky to have her on board.”
Speaking to the club’s social media channels, Elene Lete explained why she decided to make the move to the London City Lionesses.
The goalkeeper said: “I believe the club has a great project and a lot of ambition, and this move could be a big step in my career.”
London City have high aspirations in the WSL following their promotion to the top flight.
With a much more competitive league season coming up next year the club has been extremely busy in the summer transfer window already.
The club on Wednesday announced the signings of Teyah Goldie and Poppy Pattinson.
The London City Lionesses have now signed six players in the summer transfer window.
New London City Lionesses goalkeeper Elene Lete has an impressive C.V. at the age of 23.
She made 50 appearances during her time with Real Sociedad and has represented Spain at every level.
Lete made her senior debut in a 3-0 victory over the Czech Republic in 2023. She has yet to be selected for a major international tournament.
For Women’s Euro 2025, Spain selected goalkeepers Esther Sullastres, Catalina Coll, and Adriana Nanclares.
In the 2021-22 season, she was awarded the Zamora Trophy by Spanish outlet Marca, given to the goalkeeper with the lowest goals-to-games ratio in the top-flight.
She kept 11 clean sheets, conceded just 0.6 goals per game, and played a pivotal role in helping Real Sociedad qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.
