Gaoussou Diarra (22) is expected to have a bright future. His former manager at Istanbulspor predicts that the new Feyenoord signing will be the “second Thierry Henry.”

Osman Zeki Korkmaz told Turkish outlet Hürriyet, “In short, with the right analysis and a chairman who believes and demonstrates leadership with conviction, much more can be achieved. We saw that with Istanbulspor. Diarra will be the second Thierry Henry. I believe he will achieve great success and make even better transfers in the future.”

The Malian, who previously played for Tuzlaspor, came on trial at Istanbulspor 10 days before the start of the season. “I knew right from the first session that there was something special about this kid. I let him play one more time and then told the chairman: ‘We don’t need to test him again’.

“He’s a very special player; he can dribble, shoot hard, and is quick in his actions. We can profit from him in the future. Thanks to the courage of my chairman and my good judgment, we were able to pull off this transfer. Our chairman even let three players go and paid their salaries to bring in Diarra.”

After scoring on his debut, Diarra had a strong season in Turkey. In 33 league matches, he scored 15 goals and provided two assists in the second tier. Diarra can play on the right flank, but his favoured position is on the left, where he can cut back onto his right foot.
