The future of Ibrahima Konate still remains a mystery as we head towards the final two weeks of the transfer market.
The Frenchman has been closely linked with a move to Real Madrid, who are open to signing him this summer but ideally want to snap him up next summer.
Liverpool, though, have been quiet adamant about keeping hold of Konate and are keen on tying him down to a long-term contract. HIs current deal at Anfield expires in 2026, meaning he will become a free agent next summer.
According to MARCA, Liverpool’s board are set to present Konate with a firm “take it or leave it” renewal offer in the coming days.
If the 25-year-old rejects the proposal again, the Premier League champions will consider putting him on the market immediately, rather than risk losing him for free next year.
The club’s urgency stems from the belief that there have already been contacts between Konate and Real Madrid, and that a pre-contract agreement for 2026 could already be in place.

Liverpool are determined to avoid a repeat of the Trent Alexander-Arnold situation, where they risked losing a key player without compensation.
While injuries to Joe Gomez and Rhys Williams have already stretched Arne Slot’s defensive options, the Merseyside outfit are actively pursuing reinforcements.
Deals for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Parma’s Giovanni Leoni are reportedly close, which may cushion Konate’s exit.
For Real Madrid, Konate remains a key target, especially with the club still monitoring options to bolster their backline before the window closes.
Los Blancos are already considering registering new signing Franco Mastantuono to the RM Castilla side so that they can have an additional squad space available.
The next few days could prove decisive in determining whether the Frenchman stays in England or makes the switch to the Santiago Bernabeu.
