That is according to a fresh update from James Pearce - the Athletic's Liverpool correspondent - on the publication's Deadline Day live blog, as the 20-year-old could be allowed to depart Anfield on a temporary basis ahead of Monday's 7PM transfer deadline.

The North West side have made several permanent and temporary transfer moves in what is Steve Bruce's first full season in charge at Bloomfield Road, with the vastly-experienced manager recruiting a blend of youthful and experienced bodies as he looks to progress the club up the League One standings.

So far this season, Bruce has overseen an extremely underwhelming start, with Blackpool emerging victorious in just one of their opening six third-tier encounters, as they currently sit in 20th place heading into September.

In a bid to turn those dismal early-season fortunes around, the club are still active in the market and could bolster their attacking options with a loan move for the aforementioned Gordon.

Despite still being in the infancy of his career, Gordon would provide the Tangerines with experience in divisions above their current standpoint, having burst onto the Championship scene at Derby County at just 16 years of age.

The attacker was handed his senior debut by then-Rams boss, Wayne Rooney, in a 4-0 away victory at Birmingham City in late 2020, just weeks before Liverpool captured his signature for a fee of just £1m.

Since then, Gordon has made a further 15 appearances in the second-tier in loan spells with Norwich City and Portsmouth in the first and second-half of last season respectively, although his temporary switches to both Carrow Road and Fratton Park would prove underwhelming, with the forward only scoring once, netting for Norwich in a 4-0 victory over Hull City last October.

The man, who has made just seven senior appearances for Liverpool thus far, has been the subject of further loan interest since then. It was reported in mid-August that Derby were interested in a potential reunion with Gordon alongside divisional rivals, Swansea City, with the Athletic reporting at the time that a temporary departure from Anfield was likely before the summer window slammed shut.

Links to the second-tier sides have cooled in recent weeks, although interest in a loan deal for Gordon has remained, with the same publication now claiming that he could be set for his first taste of League One action, with Blackpool registering their own interest as a temporary exit remains on the cards.

It is no surprise that Gordon was initially sent on loan to the aforementioned Championship sides after making a minor breakthrough for the Premier League champions. However, it is clear that he struggled to find his feet at the level.

Therefore, a move to a side expected to challenge for a play-off spot in the third-tier - regardless of an underwhelming start - could be the ideal move for Gordon as he looks to benefit in the short and long-term.

Blackpool have scored seven times in their opening six league games, showcasing the attacking talent already at Bruce's disposal that would be further bolstered by this temporary move.

Unsurprisingly, the League One side aren't the only club interested in Gordon's signature though, which could make the remaining hours of the window extremely chaotic before his immediate future is decided.
