In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus mentioned that Liverpool are among the clubs hoping to land Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz this summer. It has been claimed that the Reds would have to rival Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Leeds United and West Ham United in the race to land the Brazilian talent this off-season.

Luiz’s Recent Season In Serie A

Luiz managed to impress at times for Juventus in the previous campaign but missed a lot of games due to multiple injuries. The 27-year-old featured in 27 matches for the Turin outfit last season but failed to score or create a goal for them in various competitions.

The Brazilian sensation needs to find a way to overcome his recent injury problems if he wants to reignite his career in Italian football.

His current contract at the Italian club will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for the Reds to sign him this off-season.

Should Liverpool Boss Arne Slot Go For Luiz?

Luiz is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer of the ball from midfield. Luiz can strike the ball with venom from long range and can also set up a few decent openings for his teammates up top.

The Brazilian talent is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder if told to do so by his manager. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Merseyside club.

Luiz would add more energy and dynamism to Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s midfield department. He has what it takes to serve as a decent squad player at the Merseyside club.

At 27, Luiz is about to enter his prime, which makes him a decent choice for the Reds to pursue in this summer transfer period. However, it remains to be seen whether he can overcome his recent injury concerns. Still, it makes sense for Liverpool to go for a player of Luiz’s quality and skill set as long as he is available for a reasonable fee this summer.
