LFP have confirmed to Le Parisien that Ligue 1 is set to announce a new-look trophy that prospective champions will raise aloft from the beginning of the 2024/25 season.

The trophy fondly known as “Hexagoal”, for its hexagonal shield-like shape, is set to be discontinued at the end of the 2023/2024 season. Ligue 1 have awarded champions the current hexagon-shaped trophy for the previous seventeen years, with 7 different champions of France crowned in the process. Paris Saint-Germain have collected “Hexagoal” more times than any other club – with 8 Ligue 1 titles in their cabinet from the last 17 seasons.

When asked by Le Parisien about “Hexagoal”, LFP Media’s senior marketing and editorial director Jérôme Cazadieu said, “We could not change the logo and not change the trophy.” No one knows what the new trophy will look like but one thing is for certain – it will not be hexagonal.

Part of wider changes

The decision to change the Ligue 1 trophy from next season has not been made as a small change. The whole identity of the French top flight is set for a revamp from the 2024/2025 season. Ligue 1 will see a new logo which forms a new visual identity of “L” and “1”, replacing the current emblem depicting the Ligue 1 trophy. In addition, a new sponsor will replace Uber Eats next season, with McDonald’s gaining the title sponsorship rights.
