Bayer Leverkusen’s sensational Bundesliga run continued with a stoppage-time win away to RB Leipzig.
Scorers: Simons 7′, Openda 56′ ; Tella 47′, Tah 63′, Hincapié 90+2′
It was a rip-roaring affair from the very first whistle as both sides went looking for the opening goal. It was the hosts who snatched the lead when Xavi Simons fired home inside ten minutes however.
While it took until after the restart, Leverkusen responded well, reclaiming parity through Nathan Tella just after the resumption of play.
The home side did not waste long in reclaiming their lead, ripping through Leverkusen on the break before Loïs Openda fired home from inside the box.
The back-and-forth affair would not end there however, as Jonathan Tah headed in another equaliser from a corner to silence the home crowd past the hour mark.
While it looked like the match would fizzle out, Leverkusen snatched a dramatic winner in stoppage time when Piero Hincapié fired home from a poorly-defended corner.
The victory sees Leverkusen go seven points clear of Bayern Munich at the top for now.
