FC Barcelona are looking to strengthen their team ahead of Flick’s first season at the club, and for this purpose, there are several positions in the squad that they want to reinforce in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The main priority of the club is to bring in a midfield pivot, followed by the incorporation of a left-winger. But if they had enough financial margin, the Catalans would also like to bring in another attacking midfielder.

In this regard, the main target of the Blaugranes some months ago was the Manchester City midfielder, Bernardo Silva, but as his release clause has expired, he is out of Barcelona’s reach for now.

Another player for this position that has emerged as a suitable target for the Catalans is the Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, who has also been linked with Real Madrid since his explosion in the Bundesliga, where he played an important role in dethroning Bayern Munich from the German throne.

But in addition to these Spanish rivals, Mundo Deportivo reports that the Bavarians themselves are also looking to sign the midfielder, and are planning to bring him to their team in the summer of 2025. In fact, the Bayern Munich president, Herbert Heiner, ruled out signing him this summer:

“Florian Wirtz is an incredibly good player. We are fortunate to have players like him in Germany who are admired worldwide. But I read that he will definitely play for Bayer Leverkusen next season.”

Wirtz has a contract till 2027 with Leverkusen, and both the player himself and his father, who also acts as his agent, have confirmed that he will remain at his current club for the next season.
