On Tuesday, the Celtic reserve squad smashed Stenhousemuir 6-0 in a friendly at Lennoxtown that is sure to have Hoops supporters salivating.
Leigh Griffiths, who has been out since August with a hamstring injury, banged in a quick-fire double within 14 minutes to put Celtic firmly in front.
The 29-year-old enjoyed a stellar first-half and was substituted off after 45 minutes with the Hoops reserves leading 4-0 and should be in contention to start against Livingston on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Griffiths wasn’t the only one to impress on Tuesday. Liam Burt, who arrived on a free transfer from Rangers over the summer after making just three first-team appearances, banged in a hat-trick within the first hour after assisting on Griffiths’ second goal.
Burt only has a single minute of Premiership experience coming back in 2016, but could give Neil Lennon something to ponder should the midfield depth be tested anytime soon.
