Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel says they deserved the win against Liverpool.

The Dane later said: "It's an important win, a very important win. To go out in the second half against [Manchester] City the way we did, then put in a performance like that with tired legs and tired minds... It's a credit to the team.

"We want to try and have the ball but in periods against teams like City and Liverpool, there are going to be periods where you don't have the ball. You have to have that threat on the counter-attack.

"It's a thoroughly enjoyable win. We just have to rest up and move on. The key for us is consistency, we haven't found it. We're working so hard on every aspect of our game. We got that little bit of luck today, hopefully that can kick-start us."

On whether he had studied Mo Salah's penalties, Schmeichel added: "Not at all. I had a feeling, I went with it. The last penalty I saved here at the King Power they scored on the rebound. You need that bit of luck at times. We didn't have it against City, we had it today."
