Leicester City goalkeeper Demi Lambourne has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Coventry United on an emergency loan arrangement.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the transfer via an official club press release from The Foxes this evening.

It has been reported that Lambourne has joined the Warwickshire club on a seven-day emergency loan which will expire before Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship action resumes next weekend. The player is eligible to make her Coventry United debut in their Vitality Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie at Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

With loan keeper Khiara Keating having recently been unavailable for selection, Coventry United boss Lee Burch initially brought Manchester United goalkeeper Safia Middleton-Patel in on an emergency loan deal. Given the fact that Leicester City goalkeeper Lambourne has now been drafted in, it seems unlikely that Middleton-Patel will pull on the Coventry United jersey again in the immediate future.

Coventry United have endured a difficult season in the Barclays Women’s Championship, however, results have improved off the back of a successful January transfer window. The Red and Greens’ improved league form has been complimented by a run in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup. Coventry United will be in the hat for the quarter-finals should they manage to pull off a shock against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
