Legendary Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has made it absolutely clear that he will not be returning to the Camp Nou in the future.
Speaking firmly on the matter, the current Manchester City boss shut down all speculation about a potential homecoming, calling that chapter of his life “closed forever.”
When asked whether he would consider a return to Barcelona someday, Guardiola replied without hesitation, “It’s over. Over forever. It was very beautiful, but it’s over.”
Guardiola, who led Barcelona to one of the most dominant eras in football history, including multiple La Liga and Champions League titles, has long been the subject of fan hopes for a return.
But with this clear and emotional response, the Catalan coach has officially drawn a line under that possibility.
While closing one door, Guardiola opened another, this time about Barcelona’s young sensation, Lamine Yamal.

The teenager has been drawing comparisons to Lionel Messi, especially after taking over the legendary No. 10 shirt. However, Guardiola believes it’s far too early to make such claims.
Quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Guardiola said: “We should let Lamine Yamal carve his own path, and when he plays for fifteen years, we can say whether he’s better than Messi or not.”
Far from criticising the hype, Guardiola actually sees the comparisons as a compliment to Yamal’s raw talent and potential. “The fact that he is compared to Messi is, in itself, a huge deal. It’s like comparing a painter to Van Gogh.”
Guardiola’s message is clear that fans should appreciate Yamal for who he is right now and give him space to grow, rather than rushing to crown him as Messi’s successor.
While he may never return to Barcelona’s dugout, his connection to the club and its future stars clearly remains strong.
