Lazio have added yet another wonderkid to their ever-expanding attacking shortlist, as the management has reportedly set its sights on Assane Diao.
The 18-year-old is a youth product of Cadiz who joined Real Betis’ youth ranks in 2021. He has been swiftly climbing his way up the ranks at the Andalusian club, becoming a member of the senior squad despite his tender age. The winger was also part of the Spain U19 squad that has recently clinched the European Championship.
So according to Il Messaggero (via LazioSpace), the Biancocelesti are now keeping tabs on the teenager. Lazio have been looking to add a new player to their attacking ranks, but since their senior list is already saturated, they prefer to acquire a youngster under the age of 22, and Diao certainly fits the bill.
The teenager’s contract with the Sevilla-based club is valid until June 2027, and the report reveals it contains a release clause worth €30 million. However, Betis are asking for a transfer fee of €15 million to part ways with the Senegal native.
Diao is a right-footed player who can interpret a variety of positions in the attacking third but mostly plays as an inverted left winger. Last season, he scored two goals in 18 La Liga appearances and also produced one strike in five Europa League outings.
