Flamengo are reportedly determined to recruit Taty Castellanos who might be open to leaving Lazio this summer.
Due to the transfer ban imposed by COVISOC, Lazio president Claudio Lotito and the club’s sporting director Angelo Fabiani insisted that they don’t plan to sell any key players this summer, as they won’t be able to replace them. And yet, Castellanos’ future has been under great scrutiny in recent months.

The striker has several admirers in Europe, and the list includes West Ham United and Nottingham Forest. In recent days, Argentinian journalist Cesar Luis Merlo revealed that Lazio and Castellanos would be happy to prolong their collaboration, but the management would allow the player to decide his future if they were to receive an offer worth €35 million or more.
According to Brazilian portal Bolavip (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Flamengo have rekindled their interest in the 26-year-old after failing to sway Inter Milan veteran Mehdi Taremi and Fiorentina’s Lucas Beltran. Therefore, the Brazilian giants are now preparing to launch an onslaught for Castellanos.
Moreover, a report from Il Tempo (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) claims that the former Girona striker will hold a meeting with Lotito to discuss his future at the club. The newspaper claims the player might take the opportunity to ask the Lazio president to leave the club.
Nevertheless, one might wonder why Castellanos would walk away from European football and return to South America at this relatively early stage of his career. He’s also expected to maintain his role as a regular starter under Maurizio Sarri.
