Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri has received the answers he was seeking ahead of the Serie A opener against Como, as he now has a starting lineup in mind.

Maurizio Sarri Reintroduces 4-3-3

The 66-year-old has thus far stuck to his favorite 4-3-3 system, but he has been testing various combinations with his personnel during pre-season friendlies. In their latest contest against Burnley, the Aquile managed to survive an onslaught to prevail thanks to a slick counter-attacking move finished by Matteo Cancellieri.

How Lazio Will Line Up Against Como

While the returning manager is still working on re-implementing his brand of football at Formello, he now has a clear idea in mind regarding the starting XI that will take the field in Como in the opening round of Serie A, explains Il Messaggero.

Ivan Provedel Reclaims his Spot in Goal?

The newspaper believes that Sarri’s old favorite Ivan Provedel will have the upper hand on Christos Mandas in the goalkeepers’ hierarchy. At the back, Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli will maintain their roles, but with the Italian suspended, Oliver Provstgaard is being groomed to replace him, while Samuel Gigot and Patric are still struggling with injuries.

Nuno Tavares Adjusting to Sarri-Ball

Nuno Tavares will retain his role at left-back as he’s beginning to absorb the new manager’s style of play which requires more discipline at the back. At right-back, the ever-reliable Adam Marusic should have the advantage over Elseid Hysaj and Manuel Lazzari, especially with the latter not always impressing in pre-season.

Lazio’s New-Look Midfield

In midfield, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is finally beginning to prove his worth in the box-to-box role. The Nigerian put on a positive shift at Turf Moor, playing an elemental role in the winner, as he regained possession and launched the counter-attack. On the other hand, Nicolo Rovella and Matteo Guendouzi’s starting berths were never in question.

Matteo Cancellieri Enjoys Meteoric Rise

Finally, Taty Castellanos has an edge over Boulaye Dia in the centre-forward role, while Cancellieri’s superb pre-season form should earn him a starting role on the right wing, especially with Gustav Isaksen still far from his best physical condition after contracting Infectious mononucleosis. Club captain Mattia Zaccagni will naturally start on the left flank.

Lazio Expected XI (4-3-3): Provedel; Marusic, Gila, Provstgaard, Tavares; Guendouzi, Rovella, Dele-Bashiru; Cancellieri, Castellanos, Zaccagni
