Lazio and Italy’s Ciro Immobile: “When I stop playing, everyone will really realize what I have done” | OneFootball

Lazio and Italy striker Ciro Immobile spoke of the numerous criticisms he receives after every International duty from the supporters as well as the pundits.

In an interview with DAZN (via Alfredo Pedulla) conducted by Immobile’s former teammate Marco Parolo, the 32-year-old striker revealed how he feels after receiving the undeserved criticisms despite playing heart and soul for Italy, he said: “There are various opinions, not of all, which sometimes make me think, sometimes they make me do a laugh, other times they make me angry. But in the end, as all the people who love me tell me, I believe that when I stop playing everyone will really realize what I have done”

Immobile also opened up on his nightmarish season with Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla, “I probably would have liked a little more time in Dortmund, I felt really good there in the first 6 months. In Seville, I didn’t get involved with the coach, it can happen over the course of a career. On the other hand, something more could certainly have been done in Dortmund” remarked the striker.

Immobile’s performances for Gli Azzurri have come under a fair amount of criticism and there was talk of a potential international retirement as well. Gianluca Scamacca is now Italy’s regular striker.

For Lazio, Immobile continues to have an impressive record. He won the Capocannoniere award once again last season, scoring 27 times. He has won the crown four times now – only one less than record holder Gunnar Nordahl.
