Immobile spent the 2024-25 season in the Turkish Super Lig with Besiktas, where he scored 19 goals across all competitions as his side finished the league season in fourth place, behind Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Samsunspor.

Immobile had originally signed a two-year contract with Besiktas in the summer of 2024, but terminated his contract by mutual consent earlier this summer in order to secure a return to Serie A.

Bologna will be the fifth different Serie A club that Immobile has signed for, following previous spells with Juventus, Genoa, Torino and Lazio.

As things stand, Immoble sits in eighth place in the list of all-time Serie A top goalscorers with a tally of 201 from 353 top flight appearances.

He requires four more to draw level with the legendary Roberto Baggio in seventh on 205 goals, eight to draw level with Antonio Di Natale in sixth on 209 and 15 to draw level with both Giuseppe Meazza and Jose Altafini in joint-fourth, both on 216 Serie A goals.
