And the England winger once again proved she is one of the world’s most exciting talents with a brilliant individual goal at Brisbane Road.

James scores outstanding goal

Chelsea claimed a hard-fought 3-2 win in the end, condemning Spurs to a sixth straight defeat in the league.

Jess Carter opened the scoring with a header, before former Chelsea forward Beth England equalised.

Guro Reiten and Nikola Karczewski also found the back of the net, but there could be little doubt that James’ goal – Chelsea’s second, was the pick of the strikes.

The 21-year-old picked the ball up on the right touchline, cut inside and dribbled past several players, before slotting the ball home into the bottom right corner.

Sam Kerr’s brilliant reaction

Kerr is also no stranger to scoring remarkable goals but even she couldn’t believe what she’d witnessed from her teammate.

The Chelsea star was snapped with her hands over her mouth, before laughing to herself and celebrating with James.

While the Aussie is renowned for her partnership with Pernille Harder and Fran Kirby, on current evidence James and Kerr are well on their way to becoming an unstoppable duo themselves.

James thankful for Hayes’ influence

Having signed for the Blues last year, James experienced a tough first season at Chelsea and rarely featured.

Yet, Emma Hayes has done a terrific job of taking her time with the youngster and it’s seemingly paying dividends.

"She's been brilliant with me,” said James regarding Hayes.

“Last year it was difficult but she's brought me back in gradually. I'm playing 90 minutes now and I'm happy to be doing what I'm doing and doing that."

She added: "You always play your best football when you're happy. Coming back in at the start it was difficult finding momentum but with the team around me it's allowed me to grow.

"Chelsea has always been home and family for me so I always feel good."
