The expectation is that Alvaro Valles, one of the best goalkeepers in La Liga last season, will depart Las Palmas this summer, with his agent having already notified the club of his intention to not sign a new contract – his current deal ends in 2025. Fortunately, the Gran Canaria-based side have moved quickly to secure a likely replacement.

As per La Provincia, a deal has been agreed for Las Palmas to sign Jasper Cillessen. The 35-year-old will arrive from Eredivisie side NEC Nijmegen, whom he had been with since 2022.

Cillessen will return to La Liga with a third different club. The 65-time capped Dutch ‘keeper previously joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2016, before heading to Valencia three years later. He is in line to be the starter under Las Palmas’ next manager, who is yet to be known following the departure of Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta, whose move to Sevilla was confirmed on Sunday.

Cillessen is a very good pickup for Las Palmas, and he will provide a raft of experience. It also provides a boost for Real Betis, who are aiming to secure a deal for Valles during the transfer window.
