This comes amid confirmation of yet another addition to the Amarillos’ ranks for next season.

The latest player to have put pen to paper on terms in Gran Canaria? Jaime Mata.

Veteran frontman Mata, for his part, is fresh off departing Getafe as a free agent, after the Azulones opted against renewing his expiring contract.

The Spaniard, now 35, appeared in 36 outings for Getafe last season, finding the net on six occasions along the way.

And such production evidently proved enough to convince the brass at the aforementioned Las Palmas of Mata’s readiness to contribute at the top level once again in 2024/25.

In turn, as per an announcement across the club’s website and social media platforms:

‘Jaime Mata Arnaiz (born 10/24/1988, Madrid) and UD Las Palmas have joined forces for the upcoming season, with an option for an additional year. The player arrives on a free transfer from Getafe CF, where he spent the last six seasons.’

Loans made permanent, free transfers and more taken into account, Las Palmas have now confirmed eight new signings with a view to next season.

A no doubt exciting trend for new head coach Luis Carrión.
