After signing two players from Barcelona in Pablo Torre and Jan Virgili, RCD Mallorca could now be poised to secure a third transfer from the La Liga champions.

Indeed, Jagoba Arrasate’s side have a strong interest in Barcelona defender Hector Fort and are poised to complete his signing, which could accelerate thanks to progress being made in another deal.

Pablo Maffeo closing in on an exit, paving the way for Fort

Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, Pablo Maffeo now appears very close to completing a move from Mallorca to Atletico Mineiro.

When it seemed that talks between the two clubs had collapsed, the La Liga team have managed to get negotiations back on track.

Unless another club comes in at the last minute with a convincing offer – something considered unlikely at this stage – Maffeo will leave Son Moix in a deal worth around €4 million, opening the door for Fort.

The Barcelona academy graduate had already held advanced talks with Mallorca and was waiting for this operation to be finalised in order to join Arrasate’s team on a season-long loan. The move now looks set to be unblocked in the coming hours.

Maffeo had attracted interest from Nottingham Forest, but Mallorca demanded a higher fee. This strained the relationship between the player and the club, and now they are prepared to let him go for €4 million.

In fact, Maffeo has not been included in the squad for the match against Real Madrid, as his future – which appears destined for Brazil – is resolved.

It should clear the path for Fort to join Mallorca on loan for the rest of the season, after not having a place in Hansi Flick’s plans at Barcelona.
