Tottenham Hotspur have successfully completed a deal to sign RB Leipzig standout Xavi Simons.
It was believed that Chelsea were the frontrunners for his signature and when he was granted permission to travel to London, it was expected that Stamford Bridge would be his next destination.
However, the Europa League holders have won the race for his signature in a deal worth €60million (£52m), with the 22-year-old signing a five-year contract in north London with the option for two further seasons.
Spurs had been on the lookout for further creative additions in the final third after losing James Maddison to an ACL injury and missing out on the signings of Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze.
Bayern Munich also made enquiries for Simons last month, who leaves Leipzig just six months after making his loan deal from PSG permanent in a €50m move.
