While the senior German national team triumphed at Deutsche Bank Park, the youngsters remain unbeaten in EURO qualifying. Marmoush, Chaibi and Collins witnessed goal fests.

Germany beat Netherlands 2-1 in a friendly in Frankfurt on Tuesday night. Eintracht defender Robin Koch did not feature. The German U21 side also enjoyed a successful finish to the first international break of the year, beating Israel 2-0 in European Championship qualifying at the Leuna Chemie Stadion in Halle. Ansgar Knauff came on in the 73rd minute.

However, Frankfurt’s Simon Simoni suffered a setback in Group E with Albania’s U21s. Simoni was in goal for the Red and Blacks as they lost 3-1 to Switzerland.

Goals galore in Egypt and Algeria

Omar Marmoush played 80 minutes in Egypt’s 4-2 friendly defeat against Croatia in Cairo. Algeria also played a friendly against South Africa in Algier, with Farès Chaibi not involved in the 3-3 draw.

Youngsters Elias Baum and Nnamdi Collins were both in the starting line-up for the German U19 and U20 teams respectively. Baum played 64 minutes of a 2-0 win over Turkey in EURO qualifying, while Collins again played the 90 minutes in a thrilling 4-4 draw in the second part of a friendly double-header against their French counterparts. He’d also gone the distance in the 3-1 win for Germany three days earlier.
