The youngster’s contract in Catalonia expires at the end of the season. Barça were keen on renewing the deal and securing his long-term future at the club.

As per the report, Unai is poised to join Al Ittihad, where he will reunite with former Barcelona sporting director Ramon Planes.

The youngster will join the Saudi Arabian outfit for a fee of around €5-6 million. In fact, he personally asked the management not to include him in today’s Barça Atletic lineup vs Ourense as he is negotiating a transfer to Al Ittihad.

Planes, who recently admitted that he is trying to sign multiple players from Barça, had played a key role in Unai’s development process and knows the player inside out.

Unai, therefore, is ready to make the surprise move to Saudi Arabia despite the fact that he is still in the early stages of his career.

The exit of the Barcelona reserve captain could be a big blow for the club considering the fact that he is one of the academy’s brightest prospects.

Unai has indeed trained with the first team multiple times this season and there was even a point when coach Hansi Flick was considering promoting him to the senior squad.

But the young midfielder is now set for a new chapter in his career, as he gears up for a summer switch to Saudi Arabia.
