Mika Faye has been in the news lately in the wake of speculation over his future at Rennes, a club he joined in the summer.

The defender has been linked with a move away from Rennes, with Bayer Leverkusen among the clubs interested in his services.

All the murmur surrounding Faye’s future has gotten Barcelona interested, as the Catalan club hold a 30% future sell-on fee clause in the defender’s contract with Rennes.

This means Barcelona are entitled to 30% of Faye’s transfer fee out of Rennes. And while Leverkusen might be out of the chase, it appears another club have joined the race to sign the Senegalese defensive prodigy.

Fenerbahce in talks to sign Faye

According to Foot Mercato, Fenerbahce are currently in talks to sign Mika Faye from Rennes this month.

The Turkish club have already contacted the player’s agent, who also wants to leave Rennes after failing to establish himself in the Ligue 1.

Faye joined Rennes for a fee of around €10 million. But knowing Barcelona hold a sizable sell-on fee clause, the French giants will be holding out for a hefty price tag for the defensive prodigy.

In fact, the report suggests Rennes are not willing to part ways with Faye until they find a capable replacement in the market.

With just a few days remaining before the transfer market slams to a shut, it will be a difficult proposition for Rennes to sign a new defender.

Keeping that in mind, Barcelona can only hope for a miracle so that Faye’s exit from Rennes goes through in the coming days.
