Jovetic: Olympiacos striker pays respect to former club after Conference League final – video | OneFootball

Former Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic made sure to pay his respects to his old club during Olympiacos’s celebrations following the Europa League final in Athens on Wednesday night.

Fiorentina were beaten 1-0, just three minutes before the end of extra time, which makes it two consecutive losses in the Conference League final after last season’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham in Prague.

It was Olympiacos’s first ever European trophy, but Jovetic wanted to take time out of his interview with TNT Sports to compliment Vincenzo Italiano’s side.

Jovetic spent five full seasons in Tuscany between 2008 and 2013, before going on to join Manuel Pellegrini’s side ahead of their Premier League title win in 2013-14.

“Amazing, first for Olympiacos, first for me! I am really proud of my guys. You saw the atmosphere here. I think we did great all year and I think we deserve this,” the 34-year-old said.

“I want to just compliment Fiorentina. Two years in a row in the final, it’s an amazing team. Shame for them, they gave their best and I wish them all the best.”
