One journalist believes that Enzo Maresca made a decision on one Chelsea player after Club World Cup involvement.

Chelsea obviously won the competition on Sunday night thrashing PSG 3-0, and most Chelsea fans are still celebrating this triumph and soaking it up, and rightly so as well.

Levi Colwill is one player who has very much been enjoying himself in the aftermath of the win, and his latest comments will also be pleasing to hear for Chelsea fans.

Colwill has also been speaking about how he rallied the troops and helped convince everyone that Chelsea would beat PSG and win the competition.

It’s certainly ended the season on a high for Chelsea having win this, the Conference League, and also qualifying for the Champions League as well for the first time in a little while.

Maresca had a big squad with him

Head coach Enzo Maresca had a large squad out in the States with him, so it was also a good chance for him to take a good look at a number of players on the fringes and help him makes some decisions on what the future holds for them.

Some players there didn’t feature at all, one of whom was goalkeeper Mike Penders, who now looks to be going on loan to Strasbourg this season.

The Telegraph journalist Matt Law, speaking on The London is Blue Podcast this week, says on Penders:

“Clearly, they [Chelsea] think he’s an outstanding elite talent. You’ll never hear anyone say anything other than that around the club.

“But it feels like he [Maresca] has spent some time with him, and probably thought he needs some first-team football on loan and doesn’t need to just be sitting on the bench.”
