According to a report from L’Équipe, Jonathan Gradit (32) will donate his ethics bonus for the season to RC Lens’s charity foundation. This is after the Lens centre-back was caught using a homophobic insult against AS Monaco’s Krépin Diatta (26) during their 4-0 victory on the final gameweek.

The final weekend in Ligue 1 was dedicated to the fight against homophobia, however, the message of solidarity and support was once again damaged. RMC Sport reported that FC Nantes forward Mostafa Mohamed (27) had refused to play in the final game against Montpellier HSC. Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Nemanja Matic (36) and Le Havre AC forward Ahmed Hassan (32) both played but covered up Ligue 1’s anti-homophobia badge during their respective matches.

On the other hand, OGC Nice wing-back Jonathan Clauss has been outspoken in his support of the initiative and told L’Équipe in an interview before the final gameweek, “I think it’s a never-ending fight, because there will never be 100% of people who agree. And the very fact that there’s a debate is a problem.”
