He was on media duties ahead of the manager to preview the Celtic versus Hibs match in the Scottish Premiership tomorrow afternoon at Celtic Park.
The Celtic right-back talked about the terrible weather at Pittodrie and the importance of the win over Aberdeen. As a Canadian, Johnston reckons he is used to pitches and conditions like that , but accepts that it will have been something new for other recent signing, getting a welcome to the Scottish winter message in the wind and rain on Wednesday night.
“It was a great feeling; it was a great performance again. It was difficult, I think when we all kind of realised that when we were going for our team walk before and warming up. It was going to be a different kind of match and a different kind of challenge as well. They have a really strong team and have had a really strong start to the year but I think it just shows that you know we can go out there and win in any conditions,” Alistair Johnston said.
He added: “I think that’s a really important thing up here in Scotland is that these winter months you know not all the pitches are going to be the best. You have to go to some pretty difficult places to play not just because of the other team but also because of you know the weather and things like that so I think it goes to show that we can still play our kind of football even if it is whatever it was like 60 miles an hour gusts of wind.
“It was horrible, it was a horrible night but it’s a good night for our fans and a good night for our team.”

Johnston spoke about how the team adapted their game to suit the conditions and mentioned the CCV block after the weather caught out Austin Trusty late in the game. That made sure of the three points that extends Celtic’s lead to seven points with a game in hand over Aberdeen.
But there’s no talk of trebles or of going through the season as Invincibles, which is now being discussed after the Aberdeen bubble was burst by that wonderful Reo Hatate winner.
Alistair Johnston had this to say on Celtic being on course for another Invincible season: “It’s way too early for that. I’ve not been part of a team that’s done anything like that, I’m not actually sure when the last team was that did that.

“It’s something that’s so far down the road and this league is so competitive. A lot of people from other places might say that the Scottish league isn’t that difficult, but having played in it every single match is difficult.
“It’s not just the teams it’s the pitches, the environments. You’re constantly playing against something difficult.”
