Brighton & Hove Albion’s interim head coach Mikey Harris is looking forward to the challenge of facing Leicester City this weekend after recently taking on top four sides in back-to-back matches.

The Seagulls lost 4-0 to Manchester United in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup before being defeated 4-1 by Manchester City in the league last weekend. This weekend’s trip to Leicester City provides Brighton & Hove Albion with an opportunity to get back on track following those losses.

Like Brighton & Hove Albion, Leicester City also find themselves under temporary management with Jen Foster in the hotseat. Harris says that he has seen some minor differences in how The Foxes play under Foster but ultimately, Brighton & Hove Albion’s focus has to be on themselves.

“We’ve definitely seen some slight differences, not huge shifts,” Harris said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “I think you always tend to see some shifts and subtle differences when there’s a change of coach.

“We feel like we are well-prepared, we respect the opposition as always and we’ve done our due diligence. For me, it’s about us, we focus the majority of time on being good at what we do whilst respecting the opposition.

“I’m expecting a really exciting game. I like their style, the way they play and some of their principles. It’ll make for a really entertaining game if it plays out how we feel it might.”

Brighton & Hove Albion’s last two matches have been played on a difficult pitch at Crawley. Harris is looking forward to his side showcasing what they can do on Leicester City’s top quality surface at The King Power Stadium this weekend.

He said “The pitch can help us hugely. We are incredibly fortunate to have the facilities and standard of pitches that we have here at the training ground.

“Crawley has a huge amount of games on it over the season and I think we had the wettest month on record in February. The ground staff do an amazing job to get it to the level that they do but to play on a pitch of Premier League standard, I’m hoping that suits us. It will suit them as well though, so we will have to accept that.

“It’s great for us because that’s the standard of pitch that we train on every day. The ground staff here do an incredible job, we are really lucky to have the level of facilities that we have.

“It gives us the opportunity to replicate what we are working on here on a daily basis.”

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Leicester City kicks-off at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.
