Brighton & Hove Albion are preparing to make a bid for Leicester City star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the summer transfer window.

Despite a lengthy run of poor results that made their gargantuan lead at the top of the Championship vanish, Leicester could confirm their return to the Premier League this weekend.

It could happen tonight, if Leeds United lose against Queens Park Rangers. But they could secure their promotion themselves with a win over Preston North End, at Deepdale.

The quality of players that City have in their team certainly suggests that they should be heading back to the top flight, but this also comes with interest that, usually, they would have to try and ward off.

Brighton are one of the teams who are looking at poaching one of the Foxes' best players, and they may well be forced into doing it because of the financial situation that they find themselves in.

Reports from Football Insider have said that the Seagulls are readying an offer from the high-scoring midfielder. They added that Brighton had attempted to get the 25-year-old in the January window, but no deal was reached.

The football outlet added that, because of the £90 million in losses that the club recently announced, they may have to cash in on him in the summer, but it seems like the asking price may have dropped.

Dewsbury-Hall could be available for as little as £30 million this summer, as per Football Insider. Leicester previously wanted over £40 million for their star, according to the online outlet, but they believe that the price has been slashed.

The Seagulls aren't the only club who are said to be interested in the midfielder. Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford are also keen on the 25-year-old.

Leicester could struggle in the Premier League next season

As was mentioned, their spot in the top flight for the 2024/25 campaign is not sealed yet; we've already seen Leicester squander great opportunities this season, so nothing is cut and dry yet.

But, in all likelihood, they are going to win promotion.

Even though there will be a big celebration if/when this happens, there should also be a tinge of worry.

Sheffield United have proved, this season, that selling your best player before your first season back in the Premier League. Iliman Ndiaye was the main catalyst for the Blades' promotion push last season, and they sold him to French side Marseille before the current campaign began.

They are currently rock-bottom of the league, and their relegation back to the second tier is impending. Leicester, even with their fancier style of play and better players, could end up in a similar position.

Desbury-Hall has registered 26 combined goals and assists this season, as a central midfielder. Even if City had the luxury of being able to spend much, if any, of the money they would get from selling him, it'd be hard to find someone who is going to give you those returns at that price.

Wilfred Ndidi is also set to leave Leicester at the end of the season when his contract expires. Finding someone of his quality and experience in the league won't be easy either.

They will still have plenty of quality with the likes of Stephy Mavididi, Abdul Fatawu, who will sign permanently if they win promotion, and others, but that key cog in the middle of the park has been so crucial to their success. Taking him out could cause the whole wheel to stop turning properly.
