One of Italian football’s biggest clubs are keeping a close eye on developments behind the scenes at La Liga heavyweights Barcelona.

That’s according to journalist Gianluigi Longari, who points towards AC Milan as the outfit in question.

For those not aware, the continuity of Xavi on the bench at Barcelona has today, seemingly, been thrown up in the air once again.

Just weeks on from the Spaniard’s continuity for next season being confirmed, the Barca brass are understood to have been left infuriated by recent comments laid out by Xavi regarding his squad, giving serious consideration to his dismissal as a result.

And, should as much ultimately be forthcoming over the weeks ahead, the former midfielder may not find himself out of work for long.

This comes amid further confirmation that Serie A heavyweights AC Milan are expressing a keen interest in Xavi’s services.

As per the aforementioned Gianluigi Longari, the 44-year-old had been earmarked as a potential replacement for the outbound Stefano Pioli prior to Barcelona’s announcement of his decision to stay put for next season.

With the situation now back up in the air, though, the Milan brass are closely monitoring Xavi’s future once more, ready to pounce in the case of his Barcelona exit.
