Inter ponder move for experienced Real Madrid defender

Real Madrid captain Nacho Fernandez is due to leave the club this summer by all accounts, but is yet ro settle on a destination. The 34-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, and is unlikely to renew his deal, although Real Madrid will accept whatever decision he makes.

Last season Nacho also appeared to be on his way out, but changed his mind in June, eventually staying at the club. This year he has the chance to go out on the ultimate high, having tied the scarf around Cibeles during Real Madrid’s title celebrations, and if they beat Borussia Dortmund at Wembley, then Nacho could do so again.

Last summer he reportedly had offers from Inter and Roma to continue his career, and GdS via Football Italia report that the Nerazzurri are considering a move for him again. They see him as a potentially cheap replacement for Stefan de Vrij, who could leave. For his part, Nacho is yet to decide if he wants to stay in Europe, or accept one of the offers he has in the USA from Major League Soccer clubs, although the latter seems more likely.

Nacho had been having his shakiest season in a Real Madrid shirt for some time, but come April and May, stood up to be counted against Manchester City and Bayern Munich, proving he can still do it at the highest level. With mountains of experience, he could well be a useful addition for Inter.
