Inter Milan legend Sandro Mazzola hopes head coach Simone Inzaghi and CEO Beppe Marotta remain at the club.

The 81-year-old is one of the most iconic figures in the club’s history. He spent his entire career – spanning between 1960 and 1977 – serving the Nerazzurri cause.

The legendary striker won four league titles and two European Cups among other trophies during his elusive stint.

Mazzola was one of the main pillars when the club unlocked its first star. Therefore, he was ecstatic to see Simone Inzaghi’s men adding the second after beating AC Milan in Monday’s historic Derby della Madonnina.

“I’m very happy with the second star,” said the Italian icon in his interview with FcInterNews.

“Everywhere I go, I see people looking at me smiling without saying anything.”

Nevertheless, Mazzola insisted he didn’t care about celebrating in front of AC Milan.

“We don’t care about Milan, we really don’t. We only look at the Rossoneri with half-closed eyes, from top to bottom.”

Moreover, the Nerazzurri legend feels Inzaghi is the right man to lead the club into the future. Hence, he hopes that the manager and Marotta stay put.

“I’m sure Inzaghi is the right coach for Inter, especially after all that he showcased. The important thing is that he and Marotta stay at Inter, let them do their work.”

Mazzola was also asked if he sees glimpses of himself in a current Inter star.

“I don’t know, I don’t see it. But it’s mainly because today they play a different football.”

Finally, the 81-year-old gave his backing to club president Steven Zhang who has been under scrutiny as of late.

“Let them continue to criticize him, so he and Inter keep winning.”
