It is now less than two weeks before the transfer window slams shut.

Inter are on the verge of making a notable signing. They will bring in midfielder Andy Diouf from Lens.

Meanwhile, the Frenchman will be Inter’s fourth signing of the summer. They have already brought in the likes of Petar Sucic, Luis Henrique, and Ange-Yoan Bonny.

On top of that, Inter have also brought striker Francesco Pio Esposito back after two seasons out on loan with Spezia.

Now, however, there is a big question as to whether or not Inter will make any further reinforcements before the end of the summer transfer window.

At the moment, there are rumours that the Nerazzurri are planning to sign a defender.

Inter coach Cristian Chivu said that he and the club’s senior management are “on the same page.”

“We have the same thoughts,” he continued. “We’re aware of the players that we need to add to this team.”

“The transfer window is still open,” said Chivu.

“And there is still time to make some moves.”

However, the Romanian insisted that “we don’t want to add quantity – we want to add quality.”

“We want to bring in players who know how to fit into a group like this, and can also improve the quality of the squad.”

Then, Chivu gave his thoughts on the high average age of Inter’s defense. “I never look at a player’s ID card,” he said. “I always look at motivation, passion, the desire to improve every day.”

“Even if they’re thirty,” said the Nerazzurri coach. “But especially if they’re twenty.”

“Because the pitch speaks for itself,” Chivu added. “The work you put in, the motivation, the discipline and dedication.”

“For me these are the fundamental things,” said the Inter coach. “They go beyond the numbers on an ID card.”
