Internazionale Milan have confirmed the signing of Andy Diouf (22) from RC Lens for an undisclosed fee, widely reported to be within the region of €23-25m.

The young midfielder cut his teeth in the famed Stade Rennais academy, making his debut for his boyhood club before being loaned out to Basel in the 2022/23 season. This was made permanent in the 2023 summer transfer window, but he wouldn’t make another appearance for the Swiss side.

Diouf had caught the attention of Lens, who, bolstered by UEFA Champions League qualification and lucrative sales, made the France youth international their third most expensive signing in club history in a €14m deal.

Diouf would go on to play two full seasons with Les Sang et Or, where he made 68 appearances (including in the club’s European adventures) and scored two goals. However, he leaves the north of France with a sense that the supporters never truly saw him reach his full potential.
