Inter Forward Perisic ‘Excited’ By New Wing-Back Position Under Conte | OneFootball

Ivan Perisic is virtually certain to stay at Inter because the Croatian is intrigued by the idea of playing at wing-back for Antonio Conte, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The forward was widely expected to leave the club this summer after submitting a transfer request during the January transfer window.

Conte made it clear in his opening press conference he only wanted players who were totally committed to his project, but it seems Perisic is on board with the Italian’s ideas.

“The former Wolfsburg man likes the new atmosphere of ambition surrounding Inter,” Gazzetta reported this morning.

“The dressing room unrest from last season is water under the bridge and he is excited by the new position Conte has in mind for him.”

Perisic went long periods without scoring for Inter last season but Luciano Spalletti always made sure the team benefited from his defensive work.

Conte hopes the 30-year-old’s stamina and tackling ability will make him an ideal fit for his 3-5-2 system.
