Inter Milan directors are hoping to sign Athletico Paranaense goalkeeper Bento as soon as possible with the blessing of the club’s ownership.
The Brazilian has been a transfer target for the Nerazzurri since last summer. However, the two clubs couldn’t reach an agreement.
Nevertheless, the newly-crowned Italian champions will try again this summer, even though they could face some competition following the custodian’s recent exploits with the Brazilian national team.
According to FcInter1908, the club’s management is working to get the green light from the owners to launch an onslaught.
As the source explains, the club’s technical directors will have an important summit with Suning towards the end of May.
Therefore, Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio and company will ask for permission to buy the shot-stopper as soon as possible.
According to all accounts, the Nerazzurri management do not have a transfer kit to spend this summer. Hence, they can only raise funds through player sales.
However, the directors will ask the ownership for their consent to buy Bento with the promise of breaking even by the end of the summer transfer session.
The 24-year-old’s contract with Paranaense is valid until December 2026.
The Brazilian would arrive as a replacement for Emil Audero. The Italian is currently on loan from Sampdoria, but Inter aren’t willing to spend 7 million euros to make his stay permanent.
Hence, the Nerazzurri are hoping to sign Bento who would initially act as an understudy for Yann Sommer. Nevertheless, they would expect the Brazil international to take the torch from the Swiss veteran.
This season, Bento has made 19 appearances for Paranaense across all competitions. He only conceded nine goals in the process and managed to register 11 clean sheets.
