Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni will not be part of the Italian national team squad during the international break.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the 22-year-old has asked to be given the time off to be with his recently-born daughter, and not because of any injury.

Bastoni welcomed his daughter into the world over the weekend, celebrating a Serie A win against Venezia in the same weekend that she was born.

The defender asked Azzurri coach Roberto Mancini to be allowed to drop out of the squad to be with his wife and young daughter, and this has been granted to him.

AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli has taken Bastoni’s place in the Italian national team squad for the international break.

It remains to be seen when Bastoni will return to training with the rest of his Nerazzurri teammates ahead of their massive run of games upon returning from the break.
