The Sweden national team has announced a testimonial match to honour former Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic following his retirement.

The veteran forward, who is now part of a group of advisors to patron Gerry Cardinale at San Siro, decided to hang up his boots at the end of last season following a series of knee injuries.

As there was no time to mark the occasion last summer, the Sweden national team will come together for a special event at the Friends Arena against Serbia on June 8.

The 42-year-old made 122 senior appearances for Sweden in his career, scoring 62 goals.

In club football, he represented Malmoe, Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, Milan – twice – Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and LAFC.

Most of his career was spent in Serie A with 283 appearances in the Italian top flight, scoring 156 goals and providing 68 assists.

Ibra was named Swedish Player of the Year a record 12 times and won the Puskas Award for best goal in 2013.
