In an interview before Olympique Lyonnais’ match with Rennes, Corentin Tolisso (30) revealed his thoughts after he required a stretcher to leave the pitch during Lyon’s 2-1 defeat to Saint-Étienne last weekend.

Initial reports were that the France international midfielder would be out for the season. However, in the immediate moments, people were fearing much worse given the 30-year-old’s track record with knee injuries. Tolisso was ruled out of action for 191 days between 2018 and 2019 after he suffered an ACL tear. This injury would continue to hamper his fitness and recovery throughout his time at Bayern Munich.

Despite the injury not being as bad as first feared based on initial reports, eventually, it turned out that the injury was minor and the OL vice captain was able to play 65 minutes on Saturday evening during Les Gones’ 4-1 victory against Rennes.

Asked about his initial feeling when he was stretchered off the field at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, Tolisso said, “I was very, very scared. Especially, given my history with knee injuries.”
