Former Paris Saint-Germain forward Carlos Bianchi conducted an in-depth interview with Le Parisien, and the Argentine discussed various topics with the French publication.

Bianchi touched on with Le Parisien is his former club’s recent victory at the Camp Nou over FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

The former manager stated that he wasn’t surprised that the French giants came away victorious, but he did add that PSG should score more goals against the Spanish side. The capital club scored four goals in the first-leg. Bianchi went on to say that Mauricio Pochettino’s squad should score more in their return leg at the Parc des Princes.

“Not at all. Barcelona is a random team. We see it in the Spanish league. They’re in third, five points from Atlético Madrid, who Chelsea has just walked in the Champions League (0-1),” Bianchi said.

“It’s not a big championship this season. Paris had a great game, that’s for sure, but Barcelona remains at the mercy of what Messi produces, but the defense! On the way back, by leaving the same match, Paris can plant five or six.”

Le Parisien then asked Bianchi where does he see PSG finishing in this year’s Champions League competition. The 71-year-old’s response should have capital club supporters dreaming of another deep since the former forward predicts that PSG could be on the road to İstanbul.

“What matchup for the final? At the start of last season, I told the PSG president that the Champions League final would be PSG-Manchester City,” Bianchi said. “Paris was there, not City. If they don’t meet before, I see the same final in 2021.”

Finally, the reigning Ligue 1 champions are fighting for the league title this year, along with the Champions League positions being up for grabs. This form has caused anxiety among the fan base, but there are no concerns for Bianchi even after their loss to AS Monaco.

“Monaco has an excellent team. Little by little, they recovered their health. Tactically, they dominated Paris. They missed Marco Verratti at kick-off. He counts a lot in the creation of the game in Paris,” Bianchi said.

“Defensively, I find Paris very strong, thanks to a perfect base, and that’s where I was surprised against Monaco: the defense was not comfortable. But I have confidence in PSG.”
