Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has been impressed with the performances of his former side this season and has tipped them to win major silverware.

The Gunners are top of the Premier League table after 31 games and are desperate to win their first title since 2004 after finishing second behind Manchester City last term.

Only a superior goal difference separates Arsenal from Liverpool, while the reigning champions are a point behind.

Man City have failed to beat Arsenal this term and Fabregas has loved what he saw from manager Mikel Arteta and his team.

“You see the way they are competing in a different manner,” the former midfielder told the Evening Standard.

“The way they prepared the game against City, even I didn’t expect it. I was expecting a completely different approach, but you see that they are managing maybe the situations a little bit better.

“They are getting this experience, the coaching staff and the players, to find different solutions. It is great to see and I do think they are very close to getting something very soon.

“They are on the right way, 100 percent they are getting there, 100 percent they are now Arsenal. You go around Europe, you speak to coaches, top teams, fans and they will all say that Arsenal are one of the best teams to watch and compete.”

The Gunners are slowly establishing themselves as a force to reckon with in the Premier League once again after several years of mediocre campaigns, and they have a real chance to win the title after a 20-year gap.

They have some fierce games remaining, with matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United expected to pose huge threats. However, Arsenal will fancy their chances given their impressive form since the start of the year.

The Gunners cannot afford to stutter, having been largely consistent for most of the campaign.

They must maintain their form and get over the finishing line as title winners.
